Some ingredients earn their spot quietly, and shea butter is one of them.
In MischiefX soap, shea butter's in there because it contributes good stuff to the overall feel of the bar. It helps support a creamy, rich character in the finished soap, which is exactly the kind of thing we want when a bar's expected to work hard and still feel good in the shower.
What shea butter is not: a miracle cure, a medical treatment, or a tiny beige wizard in fat form.
We're not here to tell you it fixes your life, repairs your soul, or reverses every bad sunscreen-less decision you made back in '07. Shea butter is an ingredient with a useful role in a formula, and that's good enough.
Our shea butter bars are made with an 8% superfat, which means the recipe includes more oils than the lye can convert into soap.
(I have to say "convert into soap" here because it was pointed out to me that lye doesn't have teeth, so when I say "more oils than the lye can eat" I'm technically wrong. Silly me.)
Anyway... the formula's designed to feel creamy, rich, and less stripping than a bare-bones bar. It still rinses away like soap should, but in our own repeated (and repeated, and repeated...) handwashing tests, it leaves skin feeling clean and comfortable instead of tight or raw.
That's the lane. No fear-mongering. No “chemical-free” nonsense. No pretending a rinse-off product is a prescription. We just make a good bar with ingredients that make sense. Bonus points for smelling awesome, of course.
